Clayton Station

The Clayton has been in the Oldfield family since 1955. With over 2000 sq km, we run predominantly beef cattle with Poll Hereford being the main breed with Charolaises and Angus put over the Hereford cows. We sell off our weaners every year regardless of the seasons to the feedlot and domestic markets, concentrating on holding our cows in the best possible condition.

Clayton Station is a well-known pastoral property situated on the southern end of the famous Birdsville track in outback South Australia. The station is approximately one thousand square miles of a variety of land and soil types.

The property is managed every year for possible drought and if we get rain, then that’s a huge plus for us. Spelling permanent watering points as much as possible during the good years give us a good feed base to come back to in the dry ones.

We are under the Stuart state electorate and Grey federal division.

We also provide public camping grounds. We also have been selling horses all over Australia since the early 1990s, these being mainly the Waler type. These versatile horses are used for everything from general hacking to endurance, showing, and polocrosse.

Clayton Station is now offering luxury self accommodation with 2 ×2 bedroom units. At night, you could sit on the deck or in the hot tub overlooking Clayton creek, watching the spectacular sunset.

Clayton Station is situated 54km North of Maree on the Birdsville Track and the homestead is five hundred meters from the track.
